Harmony House for Cats...

...a cageless, no-kill shelter

Sunday, May 18 is our 26th Annual Walk for Cats and Kittens. Because of all our extra guests and many activities, adoption interviews will not be conducted on Sunday. Please visit Harmony House on Friday or Saturday of this week if you wish to adopt a cat or kitten. Thank you for your understanding. Details about the Walkathon can be found here.

ALL OF OUR CATS ARE ANXIOUSLY WAITING TO BE ADOPTED!

You can view our cats at Petfinder, including many of our Special Needs cats. Some recent arrivals, especially kittens that just became eligible for adoption, may not have a photo and description posted.

Every Harmony House cat is a "kitten at heart" for many years. Cats do not reach full maturity until the age of 3 years, and many love to race and play like kittens all their life. So please consider all the cats when you are ready to adopt. An adult cat can be the ideal choice if you work all day, or if you wish to adopt a companion for your current pet. Whether you want a mellow lapcat or a bundle of energy, our adoption counselors will help you choose the cat that is right for you.

ADOPTION HOURS

  • Friday: 4 - 8 p.m.
  • Saturday: 12 - 4 p.m.
  • Sunday: 12 - 4 p.m.

If you are not available during our regular adoption hours, please call or e-mail us to make a special appointment Monday-Friday 12-3 p.m. Adoption appointments must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. All of our regular adoption requirements apply.

To be able to adopt the same day you visit, we ask that you come to the shelter at least one hour before closing time, but recommend allowing as much time as possible. After all, this will be a new member of your family, and is a very important decision.

When you arrive at Harmony House, you will be assisted by one of our adoption counselors. These trained staff members are ready to help you select the right cat or kitten for your unique lifestyle and home environment. In addition, counselors will offer you information on the types of cat food and litter your new pet is used to, what type of scratching posts are most popular with cats, plus advice on introducing a cat or kitten to a pet already in your home.

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS

All Harmony House adopters must be 21 years or older, currently employed, live in a house, condo, or apartment where cats are welcome, and have telephone or cell phone service.

To ensure that the adoption process runs smoothly, please bring:

  • A driver's license, state photo ID, or passport to verify your age
  • A driver's license, state photo ID, or utility bill to verify your current address
  • A copy of your telephone bill, gas bill, or electric bill to verify your telephone number.

We require that all the members of the household be present at the time of the adoption—which includes family, roommates, and especially children. Our staff can better advise you on which cats would be suitable when they can observe the adopter(s) interact with various cats and kittens.

ADOPTION SERVICES

Our adoption fee is $75 for any cat or kitten, and includes a 30-day health guarantee plus the following services performed prior to adoption:

  • Spay / neuter surgery
  • Vaccinations for rabies, distemper, rhinotracheitis and calicivirus
  • Treatment for fleas, earmites, and internal parasites
  • Testing for Feline Leukemia and FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus)
  • AVID Microchip
